Fuji Apple

Malus domestica 'Fuji'

This apple has mountains of sweetness! Fuji is a wildly popular and distinctive variety of apple known for its crisp, dense-but-tender texture, intense sweetness, and large, beautiful fruit. It was developed in Japan in the late 1930s and is named after the country's famous Mount Fuji. These perennially popular apples are notably sweet and aromatic. They have a perfect balance between sugar and acidity, creating a harmonious taste that is both refreshing and delectable. With somewhat flexible wood and a partial tip-bearing habit, it can almost look like a weeping tree in some locations.

Considered mildly resistant to rust and scab and susceptible to fireblight. Plant in full sun with good airflow. Low chill! Can be slower to establish and reach sexual maturity in very warm summer areas, but by years 4-5 it will become resilient and highly productive even in hot climates.

Cold hardy to USDA Zone: 5

Chill Hours Needed: Low/350-400

Mature Height: 12' Dwarf

Sun: Full Sun

Ripening Time: Late Fall

Pollination: Bloom Group 3 Mid; needs a pollinizer from Group 2, 3 or 4

Dwarf Rootstock: M26
